Writing Enrichment Classes
Writing level will be determined by testing on the first day of class.
Writing I – Foundational Writing
Foundational writing focuses on the process of writing. The basic elements of writing, such as good sentence and paragraph development, are the major objectives of this course. Students will also engage in vocabulary enrichment and reading comprehension activities.
Writing II – Essay Writing & Research Writing
Essay writing focuses on the forms of writing. Students will continue to enhance their writing skills by engaging in different styles of writing, such as personal, academic and creative writing. Vocabulary enrichment and reading comprehension activities will be given.
Writing III - Persuasive Writing & ACT Writing Prep
This class is an in-depth look at the process of persuasive writing. Students will be asked to stay abreast on currents events so as to take a position on an issue and write a persuasive essay. This class will include practice on writing and assessing ACT type writing prompts.
Writing IV - Special Forms of Writing
This class will help prepare students with written activities necessary for the college application process. Students will practice writing application essays and receive instruction on formal letter writing.
