Consecutive Interpreting: Speaker pauses after every few sentences to allow the interpreter to translate. Accurate but requires double the amount of time vs. single-language communication. Best suited for public lectures, ceremonies, depositions, customer visits, trainings, negotiations and interviews where information volume/time ratio is moderate.
Simultaneous Interpreting: Running translation of speeches and discussions either through communication equipment or by “whispering.” Quick and efficient but not all words get translated in rapid-fire speeches and exchanges. Best suited for international conferences, lectures and seminars where information volume/time ratio is high and/or concurrent understanding of speakers by the audience is necessary.
